Lamps Plus has many unique items. I'm very please with the quality and craftmanship of my purchases. I'm looking foward to future purchases as I am redecorating my home. I highly recommend lamps plus. I only wish they had a store here in the greater Detroit area.
Timelyness was great. Order was easy to place BUT - Order shipped by Fed Ex. Fed ex did not deliver to door like other carriers do. They left package at gate to property. I get other things delivered here and have had to request not to ship by Fed Ex. They have poor service in my area.
I was not aware that it would take 3 to 5 days to process my order until I called to check on the status of my order and originally thought it would be shipped in 1 to 2 days if in stock. The variety of product to choose from is the primary benefit in using Lamps Plus.
Fast shipping. Easy checkout. Good prices, but not when you have to go to much extra trouble and expense after dealing with a serious omission in the listing and customer service people with no understanding of what it meant for the customer or how to make it right.
Customer service amateurs. Product description had glaring omission. Ceiling fan light kit took candelabra size bulbs. Not stated. One would think it was standard sockets for this standard covered light fixture. After reminding customer service of responsibilities, offer finally made for free standard candelabra bulbs after arguing with me that it was intermediate socket size and not candelabra. Not a good lighting product without at least intermediate socket-sized bulbs. That needs to be at the forefront of the listing for this standard-sized fixture that anyone would think takes standard-medium bulbs, not Christmas tree-sized.
Usually, a customer service professional would automatically make a concession when a customer has a problem that is the fault of the retailer/ and not have to be told what their responsibilities are, especially when it was this misleading to buy something that had to be mailed and not easily returned. I was initially only greeted with a statement that told me that they will notify someone that the listing was wrong and then I was sent to the bulb department to buy some bulbs. Something like, "We'll let someone know." How would that help me now that I have bought the product? Never mind the trouble that I would have to pay more for the compact florescent bulbs that I had planned to use and already had in standard medium size. This meant more expense and more effort for me. After letting the in-charge person know why I thought this was wrong, he did offer some cheap standard 60 watt candelabra bulbs at least; but that is not what I planned to use and I had to tell him that this was a problem that warranted some sort of attention. They were not understanding in their tone as if I was being petty for this/-so I decided not to deal with them and go spend the $16 I will need to buy the compact florescent candelabra size bulbs from their competitor (about same price from them). To be honest, I would have liked to pay maybe $9 or even half price for both bulbs as at least a token concession from them. Kind of strange to have your standard ceiling light fixture to only have a couple christmas-tree lights. Guess we need to redesign our fixtures to reflect this change in design.
