Getting an answer from TomTom by
Magini ,
Mar. 22, 2008
- Pros: Easy to use
- Cons: Terrible consumer - no phone number for company
- Recommended:
Yes
- Has Owned Product: 2 Month(s)
- Comments:
Wrote TomTom asking how to make the voice louder. Recieved a reply that I would get an answer within a few days. All I got was a survey. Answered the survey and asked the same question. Never got a response to either request. Cannot find a phone number for TomTom to get an answer to my question.

>There is nothing in the manuel telling how to make the voice louder.

One of the Best basic units by
Manager ,
Mar. 17, 2008
- Pros: Easy to use right out of the box
- Cons: Does not give street names, no big deal though.
- Recommended:
Yes
- Has Owned Product: 5 Month(s)
- Comments:
Works great right out of the box. Free downloads of map updates is a good thing. Easy to use web site. Able to reach technical support quickly and each time they have been very helpful. Easy to go from day to night viewing. Easy to input locations and save to favorites. Voice prompts are very good even without giving actual street names. I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants a very good basic GPS without all the bells and wissels that most people probably would not use anyway.

Most bang for the buck. by

Jan. 23, 2008
- Pros: Clear voice, good screen, great map.
- Cons: Had to press the reset button once.
- Recommended:
Yes

- Comments:
I bought this GPS for my 85 year old father who still insists on driving. I found it at Walmart on 1/15/2008 for $148.00. This was my first experience with any GPS unit and I not only found it very easy to use, but to also teach my dad how to use. I downloaded the free map update before taking a trip and found it to be very accurate. My dad lives out in the country and this thing started assigning names to roads that I didn't realize even had names. It even tracked me walking out to the mailbox! Ijust loved it and am going to buy one for myself.

Avoid Tomtom One 3rd Edition by
Columbus ,
Nov. 27, 2007
- Pros: Fast route re-calculation, Download Updates, Maps, voice
- Cons: Poor customer service, Outofdate list of Gas Stations/Stores
- Has Owned Product: 4 Day(s)
- Comments:
Sounds like a good deal, but do your homework. This model only announces turns, not street names. Must download updated maps and daily!!!GPS-FIXes. USA Points of interest is terribly outdated and hard to select using POI touch screen menu, sends me to the wrong location. No response from customer service. Make sure you can return it if you buy one.

- Review Verdict:
The TomTom ONE can't be beaten at its price. Its design perfectly fits its function in both hardware and software terms, and it really is built to last. There aren't many gadgets you can actually say are a pleasure to use, but this is one of them.

tomtom one 3rd edition review: TomTom have fiddled at the edges in the upgrade from Slim Edition to 3rd Edition, but the competitive price makes the One a worthy player in the entry-level GPS market.
