Hard to mount
by Online Shopper, Jun. 26, 2007 - Pros: The only advantage to this item is price, which is a pretty big advantage. It's quite a bit cheaper than anyone else's big screen vehicle GPS. It has all the basic features you expect and they all work reasonably well. I called Magellan tech support
- Cons: There is no portable dash mount available for any Maestro 4xxx GPS. I called Magellan technical support to verify this. The only options are a big metal arm plus suction cup assembly that sticks to the windshield and is very hard to remove, or an adh

Failed my test
by Online Shopper, Jun. 19, 2007 - Pros: Nice large bright screen. THe unit works very well when your destination is on the map.
- Cons: I bought the Maestro for my trip to Phoenix for a wedding. I checked the web site, and no updated maps were available. My friend's home was NOT on the map even though the unit was only two weeks old! Also, the wedding reception location was not on th

Not a good GPS company
by Online Shopper, Jun. 8, 2007 - Pros: Pretty standard GPS. Better maps than past models. The voice isn't as annoying as many other models I tested.
- Cons: Magellan does not support their products or update their maps as they promise. I purchased 2 units from them. My prior unit was not updated and they made me buy a new GPS instead of updating the poor quality maps that came with it. The Points of Inte

This will likely be the last Magellan product I ever buy. Since they acquired Thales, they moved all of their cust support and tech support to India. The people are nice, but have no authority and don't know much about the company itself. ... - Read full review at Dell

I can't get lost
by Online Shopper, May. 24, 2007 - Pros: Simple to use Return Home Feature is great - One quick push and then a route button and you're headed home from anywhere... The big screen is great - night time coloring is really nice - once you turn it on. I'm really happy with the purchase, though
- Cons: The manual is less than I'd want, but then again / I never read it.. : ) Add POI's with their software is les than desireable, but it may be that I'm new to it. I'd like to be able to update the maps myself, rather than wait for Magellan to announce
- Comments:
Now that I've used this, I have to buy one for the kids I'd prefer to be able to buy additional window screen mounts at a reasonable cost to move this from one car to another without removing the mount each time. ... - Read full review at Dell

Excellent Value for the money
by Online Shopper, May. 21, 2007 - Pros: 1. Very fast GPS fix. Both this unit and Mio 310x utilize SiRF Star III chipset, but Maestro 4000 is much more sensitive. I can get a good fix indoor as long as I point the unit to a window. 2. AAA Tour book integrated. This is a unique feature to th
- Cons: 1. Cumbersome to switch between 2D and 3D maps. 2. Missed the dynamic zooming feature in Mio 310. 3. POI DB seems incomplete. Costco is not in the DB. 4. There are few functions on the map screen. Most changes need to be done via menu screens.

The battery life is only three hours. But it is good for most car natigations. ... - Read full review at Dell

Magellan Maestro 4000
by Online Shopper, Apr. 5, 2007 - Pros: The Magellan Maestro series of in-car GPS devices features an updated and sleeker design and interface with a spacious 4.3-inch touch screen. All models offer useful information on points of interest from the American Automobile Association. In addition,
- Cons: During our road tests, the Maestro 4040 was a little slow to recalculate routes. The Bluetooth pairing process was also a bit difficult, and you can't transfer contacts from your phone to the Maestro 4040.
