Nuvi 660 by
Online Shopper,
Mar. 24, 2008
- Pros: Excellent product.
- Cons: Documentation
- Recommended:
Yes
- Has Owned Product: 10 Month(s)
- Comments:
I have used the Nuvi 660 for 10 months with extended driving in TX, NM, AZ, NV, CO, and UT. One map error in NM with a new development. Love the screen size and bluetooth-cell phone connection, but not all cellphones work with the contact list. Purchased the instruction CD which was a waste of money. Still discovering features. The provided documentation was weak, but website was useful. I paid $550 and it was money well spent.

Garmin Nuvi 660 is poor. by
mtfrater ,
Sep. 29, 2007
- Pros: Nothing.
- Cons: Inconsistently gets satellite reception.
- Has Owned Product: 7 Day(s)
- Comments:
I recently acquired the Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS. When I turn on the device, it reads acquiring satellite- the problem is that it rarely seems to get satellite connection. Then if it does connect, it frequently loses connection again within a few minutes. I tried to use it to guide me to an address, but again it lost the satellite and froze up in the middle of the route. In the meantime, I tried my sister's Magellan GPS in the same location with no problem with satellite connection. I have found on the web others who have similar problems with NUVI 660. I do not recommend anyone purchase this particular GPS device.

Go for the 680 if you can by

- Pros: Slim, Use right of box,
- Cons: Price
- Recommended:
Yes
- Has Owned Product: 1 Week(s)
- Comments:
I was deciding on the Cobra or Nuvi. Then it was the Nuvi 660 or 670. If you're going to Europe, get the 670. But if you are only in the states, you might be better off getting the 680 like I did. Both the 660 and 680 are basically the same, but the 680 comes with the most updated mapping and with the MSN Traffic car charger cable. I used it right out of the box and directions were on the money. Although a few reviews show that you can't do segments, after plotting my original course, I was able to add stops leading to my final destination. Being able to check my local gps location for gas/eating places even shopping centers and car washes or for a specific location was excellent. With the Blue Tooth feature, I was able to pair my phone. What I like was that when I wanted to make a call using my 680, it showed all my phone entries from my phone. Whether you get the 660 and pay an extra 200 for the MSN cable or get the 680 with includes one year service of MSN Direct, you will not be disappointed.

quality GPS device with MP3 player and other extras
...
- Review Verdict:
There's a lot to choose from in the high-end GPS market but Garmin's Nuvi 660 offers that little bit extra over most rivals, in terms of both features and usability. It's one of the nicest in-car GPS units we've used and comes highly recommended for today

The nüvi's 4.3in LCD stands out from the crowd, boasting navigation perfection that doesn't compromise portability. It achieves the wow factor through hands-free calls, but is this enough to justify its price tag in comparison to the HP?

NO BUYERS REMORSE HERE! by

- Pros: GREAT TIME/MONEY SAVER AND GREAT GARMIN SUPPORT
- Cons: A little pricey
- Recommended:
Yes
- Has Owned Product: 3 Week(s)
- Comments:
I purchased the NUVI 660 after EXTENSIVE research. I like everything about it! Garmin techs are great at answering any question you have/before and after your purchase. I would not purchase from a nonreputable dealer/I have heard several horror stories about product coming used or broken and having a tough time exchanging. Spend the extra $30+ and get it at a big electronics store/I purchased mine from Circuit City after printing out a Sam's Club (mail only) price and they matched it. The system itself is easy entry! The only minor flaw is that when entering a new location it would be nice if it started at the same city and you didnt have to enter the city everytime (It does start at the same state). I have noticed a few times (on locations I know) that it doesnt always take the best route but still gets me there. I use this for vacations and trips (not for work as I am in an office). I like the MP3 and Audio books ability/I would suggest a memory card. The three main reason I purchased are 1. Saves a little gas in the fact that I am not turning the wrong way and having to go 15 miles for the next freeway entrance. 2. It keeps me from arguing as my wife isn't the best at reading maps (nothing like telling me in high traffic I should have turned 2 blocks back). 3. It allows us to go places I wouldnt normally go/like special restaurants that may be hard to find.
